Tuesday was post Eclipse Day. June and I had spent the night at the 1693 distillery, it was a quiet night and we slept in...until 7.
When I came out I was surprised there were still quite a few RVs still here. Most Harvest Host guests depart 'oh dark hundred', I guess the Eclipse is different. It had rained over night and was still raining on and off....it was going to be a wet day.
While making breakfast and packing up we chatted with the 3 people and 4 dogs in the Class B (a van) next to us. They asked for a tour of our LTV since they were finding the Class B a bit cramped for all of them...you think! They had rented the Class B and were just trying out the RV life. I think they liked it, mostly because they could bring their pets, but recognize they need something bigger. They rented the van for $250/day, doggie day care is $70/day so by their math it was still worth renting the Class B.
After breakfast and showers we set off for Randy's, there was little traffic :-).
We stopped at the Blanco State Park to dump and fill our tanks, $5, nice people.
We got back to Randy and Sue's around noon. I think everyone was having a lazy rainy day. We watched stupid things on TV all afternoon (Idiocracy, King Pin, The Ranch).
Sue was babysitting Molly today. She couldn't go to daycare because she wasn't feeling well.
We went to the Mix for pool and shuffle board and drinks! We met Sue back at home and had takeout chicken, mashed potatoes and salad; drinks on the deck to end the night.
Wednesday, Rich, Kris and Mike left to return to Illinois. It was great to see Rich and family. We get along way better than we did when we were kids.
Sue had to watch Molly again today.
June and I took the LTV to camper world to see if they could fix my hydraulic jack. It really needs to be put on a lift, the jack bracket removed and put back properly. I spoke with the service tech who spoke to the mechanic and they said they could do it. June and I waited about an hour before they worked on it. Then we watched for another hour while they tried to work on it laying on the ground which is completely impractical. I eventually went out and talked to them, they had given up. So I wasted 2 hours and they charged me $100. I was pretty unsatisfied and the more I thought about it the more irritated I became. When I got back to Randy and Sue's, I sent Camper World a strongly worded email. Later that day they refunded my money; it was a fail but it only cost me my time. I am just going to wait until I get home and fix it myself.
After lunch, Randy, Sue, June and I went to Gruene. We had been there before but we really like the little town.
We ate at a great Mexican restaurant and had margueritas. We had a nice time in Gruene and stopped at the Happy Cow on the way home....it is a classic small Texas Bar. We actually didn't stay because the dart board wasn't working. :(
Joe was to return from a business trip late, and we had to pick him up, so we all took naps.
Randy and I picked up Joe about midnight at the Austin airport. He was glad to be home. It was the end of a long but good day.
Thursday, we got home late Wednesday, so we slept in. Randy and I did some errands in the morning, it was a gorgeous day.
We watched the Masters in the afternoon and went up to The Mix for drinks, live music and socialization, it was a very nice time. After the mix we returned to the house for our last evening in San Marcos, it has been a very nice visit. They say guests are like fish, really good when they are fresh but after a few days it is time to get rid of them....we will head out tomorrow.
We are thinking we will head towards Vicksburg to visit that historic site, we will probably not make it in a single day but don't know where we will stop.

It was an interesting three days. Eclipse in Luckenbach, pool and shuffle board and more pickle ball! The “Mix” is a lot of fun. Randy and Sue knew what they were doing moving here.
ReplyDeleteToo bad we wasted time at Campers World…..”first world problem”.
Life is good!
