Day 2, Wednesday, 20Mar2024 - Virginia

The drive from NY to VA was pretty uneventful with the exception of the wind. Highway wind advisories started at about the Pennsylvania/Maryland boarder. It was very gusty, to the point where the Sprinter ESP system bailed on us. (ESP = Electronic Stability Program. It's Mercedes system for monitoring what the driver is trying to do versus what the van is doing, and trying to help out using engine speed control and select braking inputs.) This is not the first time we have had this happen in high winds, so I did not get too excited when the beeps and dash lights started.  However, you do loose cruise control and traction control when this happens. Turning the engine off and back on again resets and clears the warnings. After the winds lessened we pulled off to reset the ESP and were on our way again.  I find it interesting that Mercedes defines ESP as: Mercedes-Benz vehicles are equipped with advanced technology that helps ensure a safe and comfortable driving experience. One notable feature is the Electronic Stability Program (ESP), designed to help drivers maintain control of their vehicles in challenging driving conditions. Yet, it bails out when the conditions are overly challenging.

We arrived at the Malloy's house around 4PM on Wednesday.  It was 70F and sunny, welcome to Virginia.

While Bob went off to his club meeting, I de-winterized the LTV and filled our fresh water tanks. We now have a fully functioning house.

Bob's driveway has a bit of a slope, but the leveling jacks did their job.

While Bob was at his meeting, Olivia made us a nice steak dinner, it was delicious.

Bob got home in time for dessert and we had a nice time catching up, we may drive into DC on Thursday to see the cherry blossoms.
