Saturday after breakfast we all went and played Pickle Ball. Bro's development has many courts and it is one of the things they do here. Randy and Sue had their way with us but it was fun for everyone, right up until Richie's trick knee went out. It was the last match but he left with a pretty good limp.
After Pickle Ball and lunch, I did some repairs on the Serenity Falcon. I successfully repaired the automatic step into working order, using my preferred tools, a hammer and a bigger hammer. I have been unsuccessful in getting my leveler jack that is not tight to the frame to tighten. Even with the weight of the RV on it, it still is about 1/2" off the frame. We are still carefully using it, but I hope to get it to a shop in the next few days to fix it correctly.
Omar, JJ, Molly, Kitty, Joe and Reba all arrived on Saturday afternoon about the same time. It was great seeing all of the family including their pets, Kitty and Reba. We all went up to the Bocce Ball courts and played team matches. Randy and JJ won. It was fun for all.
We retired to the house, JJ and Omar bought some darn good Pizza. We all had a nice visit.
Sunday morning, Joe and I went for a golf cart ride. When I was here last they were building more houses, well it has not stopped. Randy said they will add another 1600 homes to complete the 3000 home development...whoa.
I found the construction interesting. Instead of wire and rebar, they use plastic coated cables to reinforce the concrete pad. The wires pass through the form and I assume they terminate or connect the cables after the concrete is poured and the forms are removed.
While walking through the maze of cables and crap, I managed to roll my ankle, I guess that is why the keep out signs are there....:-).
In the afternoon, the girls went to the pool and the boyz went golfing. It is a very nice course, and a beautiful day.
We played best ball with Mike and I beating Rich and Randy by one stroke, so they had to buy the beer at the club.
We all retired a bit early since we were getting up to depart for the Eclipse viewing around 7AM.
Monday, we set out for Luckenbach to view the Eclipse. June and I had a reservation at a Harvest Host called 1693 distillery. We were unsure what that parking situation was but we did know that Luckenbach was charging $450/night at that location. The HH is free but you are expected to buy some of their product to show your appreciation.
The drive had little traffic and we drove first to 1693 and parked the LTV. We also had loaded Randy's electric bikes on the LTV, so we unloaded those so Rich and Mike could ride them to Luckenbach which was only 4 miles down the road.
Luckenbach was not nearly as crowded as we expected and they had food, drinks and music. It was a fun time but it was cloudy with occasional breaks of sun.
It was great to be back in Luckenbach.
We played a bit of Jenga.
This is how Randy plays.
It was a party atmosphere and everyone was having a good time.
Some people got rowdy.
The eclipse itself was impacted by cloud cover, with the exception of the total darkness, it was real.
This is a time lapse I took with my phone, I used a film from the glasses to protect the phone sensor.
After the event, we returned to the 1693 distillery for après beers and snacks.
All but June and I returned to San Marcos with everyone else in the world, they had traffic.
June and I enjoyed drinks and music at the fire pit.
It was a nice venue, I enjoyed their bourbon.
Overall it was a good day, the Eclipse was not what we hoped for but the atmosphere was fun and everyone enjoyed themselves.
Meanwhile at home they had a spectacular Eclipse.
This is my solar production on Eclipse Day in Vermont. It is pretty obvious what time the Eclipse occurred.
Regardless of where you were, I think those that watched or tried to watch the 2024 Eclipse will never forget it.

There certainly is a lot to do here at Kissing Tree and Randy and Sue are the perfect hosts. I will have to get someone interested in playing pickle ball when I get back home. The ecIipse was not a total bust but we were a little disappointed after driving all the way down here. :( I enjoyed our stay at 1693 Distillery, the Peach Cooli with their whiskey was delicious. We had a pretty quiet evening. Life is Good!
